You volunteer for medical experiments to get in out of the cold

You sign up at the mollkin medical resources center. You get a room with seven other mollkins. The room is small and only two can lay down there at a time. But its warm! Real warmth! Then at five P M its carrot soup with real cheese! You can't believe it. So good! The next day begins a long series of physicals and blood tests. You are put in the basement ward. This is where they do torture experiments too harsh to try out on human guinea pigs. The rest of your short life is hell. You are gone three days later and looking like you had a personal run in with the God of Pain.
