The Shiny Itches

History

=Formation and early years= (2005–2007)

When Bennie Dar joined sisters Soma and Penosisea Munson to form a band in Dunwich, Massachusetts in the waning days of December, 2005, the trio briefly christened itself The Ugly Ugly Ugly, shortly renamed itself The Twisted crank bonnet, but soon morphed its name to The bonnets. The band was part of the Ketjack Noise Music Scene, which featured groups that played a old school video game and noise ambient vibe. In 2006 the threesome recorded and released a single (Iblis) on Old posters of cheese records. In 2007 The trio was signed to Uber-wiry Products, a label formed by Cheeks Brosto.

The early Shiny Itches line-up of Bennie Dar (electric piano), Soma Munson (drums), Penosisea Munson (synth) and Nancy Floss (bass) recorded an EP in 2006 and a single, Cancer Phlem Moustache, was released. A legal issue forced the band to change their name at the last minute so they dropped the "The" from their name. Their first EP was retitled Shiny Itches and was released. In 2007 Uber-wiry Products issued a 12 inch "remix" single of "Cancer Phlem Moustache" to radio and media however another setback came as the label folded. Ugly Left Biscuit Records picked up distribution and re-issued the EP. What could have been yet another setback for the band came when Bennie Dar left the band to focus on his own project, Bennie Dar and the Spiggots of used milk. He was replaced by Orloc Brumsin, formerly of the all-Mollkin band Freak-Jet.
