Hours after the attack has ended, the federal government arrives on the scene and orders a full evacuation and quarantine of the Lake Crump environs. People are forced to leave their homes by armed teams outfitted in yellow hazmat suits. They claim that a massive chemical spill has taken place, that soil and water must be tested and decontaminated, that they do not know how long the evacuation order will be in effect.

No one knows why there was a massive amount of toxic chemicals in the area. Some few publicly doubt that there was any spill, that this is all a cover-up for something else. They are right, but no one will ever believe them.

Secret negotiations are held with the Frogmen, going long into the night. The American negotiators and the Frogmen remain deadlocked over whom is to be held responsible for the violence and destruction of property, and what is to be done going forward. A shaky truce is eventually reached, in large part thanks to American fears of Horrifically Assured Destruction: the Americans give up all claims to the traditional spaces of the Frogmen, and the "chemical spill" will be blamed on non-existent terrorists, who will be conveniently killed off-camera. That one always works.

You don't read about any of this, tho Lectrum himself does mention the chemical spill to you, worrying that it has destroyed the next crop of water radishes. Where is he going to get his fix?

  1. You go about your happy life as a roadie for Phil Lectrum
  2. The government kidnaps you and tries to get you to recreate the Mega-Weapon
  3. A flier gets shoved in your face, claiming the Lake Crump Chemical Attack was an inside job
