The Golem is essentially a Tulpa, an eidlolon for the magickian to set his task upon. (even if that magickian happens to be Ghod) However, it is Golems which date back to pre-Talmudic times and happen to appear in the Old Testament (Psalms 139:16) which uses a word in Hebrew for "Golem" meaning "my unshaped form" because Adam was also considered a Golem, made of mud; undefined like countless others who were formed by those closest to Ghod in worship and devotion.

"Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." KJV

"Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." NIV
