You start pouring eggnog on the couch and it puts the flame out like nothing before. You have the couch out in no time. Shortly after that there is a knock on your door. It's a couple cops. They call a ambulance for you when they notice your eye injury. They caught the Grinch leaving your chimney with your valuables. They caught him red handed. Grinch is going down for attempted murder and armed robbery. You get your stuff back. Plus you take the Grinch to court and the settlement says he must pay for your medical bills.
