You run into another man wearing dirty sackcloth and he explains the situation

After what seem like miles of road, you finally feel safe enough to stop and rest, alone, sheltered under two olive trees. The mob who condemned you to this horrible state are far behind you, and it seems no one has bothered to follow you. Why would they? You're a nobody now. All that wealth, all that power, all gone. You regret all the choices you made that led you to this, and, in this moment of weakness, cry out to God that you repent all your sins, if he could only hear you, only forgive you...

It is in that moment that another man, looking beaten, dirty, and smelling just as foul as you, comes up near you, offering a sign of peace. You look up and see that he is standing between two lamp-posts on the other side of the street, waiting, not coming any closer.

"Who are you? What do you want?" you call out, still shaken, now feeling intruded on.

"I am like you, brother! I lived up on the strip, had a big house, fleet of cars. I thought I was untouchable, you know? Like the woe was just a wake-up for the world to pay me what they owed, but what is power, really? God is Power. I'm just a man."

His words fill you with courage and strength, and you immediately know that he is a messenger from God, come to tell you what it is you must do to redeem yourself, and, not only yourself, but all who will listen before the final judgement comes.
