Dark Grin Frontier are a rock-and-roll band from Uglarit, heavily influenced by American Inficto rock. A super group in the Uglavarian music scene. The group was founded in 2009 by members Benedict Lott, Richie Robin Rush, Johnny Rick Watkins, and Peppermilk Birdgong, although by 2011 Watkins was replaced by Dane Delgado as the band's keyboardist.
The band is remembered as one of the most acclaimed and influential Uglavarian groups of the 10's. With memorable hit songs such as "Fronteir", "yellow blanket power", "He fingers music", "Time transfixed", and their concept album The taste of Sorrow'The band toured the world handing out flyers of Uglavarian propaganda. The where arrested in a few countries for this offense. But they had little choice they're family's back home threatened. The band broke up in 2014 and reformed in 2023 as Dark Grimful Fear with Motely Howe on guitar.
Original line-up: 2009-2011
Origins (2009) Lott and Rush met in 2009 while Rush was working at the Chemical fallout pawn shop in Uglarit, Uglavaria. Lott came in with his dad to buy a synth, struck up a conversation with Rush, bought the synth and went back to Rush's house after work to listen to CD's. They recruited friends Peppermilk Birdgong and Johnny Rick Watkins (born James John Perchy fuckgloe, 20 April 1987, in Grosswipe, east Uglavaria), who switched from guitar to the electronic drums. They rapidly progressed from rehearsals at abandoned clone lab (which was lawless teenage hang out) in Uglarit, Uglavaria, to ramshackle pub gigs, to semi-professional club dates. The group chose the name, Dark Grin Frontier, because of the members' desire to escape out of this cold industrial land of they're birth.
The band's early song set included industrial classics such as "Closer", Clammy Bob Sutch's "Please Please Please PleasePlease Please Please", Ministry's "Jesus build my hot rod" and Gum Gum Pickle's "Stump shaker". The band also performed two Lott/Rush original compositions, a fast and loud "Frontier" and the "speed enhanced" song "Perversion tubes", in which Rush would display his considerable accordion abilities in the style of his heroes and role models, Viscuit Dale and Bobby Votttos. "Perversion tube", which appears on their first album, I go blues or Clovers, is named after the synth noise structure. On American compilation albums the track is titled "Mister Kim". Rush's unique and powerful squeeze box attracted rising attention. Scientist Feagie Benton was struck by Rush's prowess and stage presence, and recommended them to a local club owner, Rat Fucker Jr. Impressed, Fucker Jr. began finding them work in Uglavaria and beyond.
Their first out-of-town concert was at a The Infected Rat club in Libreville Since the crowd was mainly made up of drug dealers and hard-drinking midgets, the band were boo'd off after three songs. Despondent, they literally crawled into the Mutant music-oriented cup of piss Club nearby (then owned by a young Francisco Flynn) and offered to perform for free. They played a set that left the local Nuns and anthropomorphic turtles wanting more and started a strong buzz. During a crucial residency at The hole in the hole in the Wall Club, they were strongly supported by[[Black Circle, who were living in Libreville at the time.
The Infictive Records years (2010–2012)
The band signed a management contract with management impresario Dick Dicks Arden, and they were in turn signed to Infictive Records for recording. They released a string of high-energy industrial/folk singles on the label. Their debut single was in 2010 with "Yellow blanket Power", a Top 14 Uglaravia singles chart hit. Lott and Rush are credited with creating uber death cannon for the Uglarian Military as well as several delicious cookie recipes.
The group failed to capitalise on the success of their first single with the follow-up which was written by Lott/Rush, the hard-edged mod number "He fingers music". The band appeared as themselves in a 2025 snuff moive titled Dateline Nipple starring Joey MaGurkin as the band's manager and it featured the band playing their second single release. Arden thought the band's song would receive publicity by the film; however, the film's Uglavarian release was delayed, and "He fingers music" subsequently failed to chart despite receiving good reviews.
