The intentionally dissolute life

The intentionally dissolute life.

Not the happily dissolute life of a poor soul who knows that he is living sinfully but affects acceptance of this fact and the enjoyment of the chosen means of his spiritual dissolution. Not the rebellious dissolute life, where one sins purposefully to demonstrate one's lack of obedience to God.

Not either of those. Those are disguises that one wears more for one's own sake than for others. We tell ourselves we live in sin not out of basic spiritual weakness, but because of our actual enjoyment of however it is that we are slowly killing and damning ourselves. We tell ourselves we live in sin not because we don't hear the still small voice in our hearts anymore but because fuck you, God, I'll show you what I think of your so-called laws and fuck a robot.

Those are affects, two ways to dress up the same dissolute life of sin, no thought of atonement or confession.

The intentionally dissolute life is not like these. One has trafficked with unclean spirits of one's own volition and paid what was asked in return. One has made common cause with demons and knows exactly how and exactly who it is that one is afflicted and beset upon by. Knowing, mostly, that despite the reality of God victorious over all evil spirits, one will never participate in that victory.

Not a path one starts out on intentionally. A path that one eventually looks down to see they've been walking it for some time. And what does it mean to make common cause with demons? Recent publications, available at Barnes & Noble on the same shelf as the New Age Religions catalog, suggest that one do away with the various indicators of sovereign and coercive power over the spirit world in ritual evocation of demons and djinn. It's 2019; stop dropping names to seem like a big deal and just talk to the spirit, like equals. Forget that patriarchy power dynamic, just be two beings, working together towards the same ends.

But you are not equals. You may be in possession of as many of the spiritual privileges afforded to humans as you choose to accept, but you are flesh, and your ally is the very current that you swim in when you take up cause with it. In making common cause with a demon, one becomes that demon's actions. Not even an appendage. What the appendage does. And God, victorious over all demons, is now victorious over you.

Be honest, though. No one who chose to stop being human and become the actions of a demon cared about their immortal soul to begin with. Not the way most religious folk care about it, anyway. Happiness and prosperity are not the lot of those defeated by the Almighty.

No need to seek atonement, confession, communion, or forgiveness, because here is His Creation around you, and you on your path through it.
