Societty breaks down and he makes a shit list of all the folks who have wronged him in past enough to warrent revenge and he goes on a violent spree. about this time a great ancient ziggurat is disovered in a field in front of the grove of trees he lives in. As things get uglier he explores the place and begins to organize peoplel to take shelter there. This is a huge building buried 18 thousand years yet it was constructed in the future and it has warehouses of perfectly preserved foods. Protagonist gets a community going and rules and chores while the country breaks down into armed groups warring on each other. Things are going pretty well but three weeks into this new way a facsist uprising rises up against the "old order" that being protag and his new governemnt. Many are killed in a popular uprising under charastmatic leader. Our protag is forced to be another worker who hauls goods out of the storage rooms and stores inside the ziggurat. This is how he finds the high tech rifle. Several of this governement members have been killed and when protagonist is in the great flat concrete plaza where people gather and tents are set up to sell goods he sees the storm troopers and he opens fire, killing a few.
