Masque of the Yellow King Time line:

When Alice and Dorothy where little girls the world was not nearly so fucked up as it is now. Fucked up yes, but not nearly so. Dorothy would play in the fields. She would go with her family to see Alice's family. Alice had shiny toys. Alice's parents divorce and they see each other much less. Mostly family re-unions. Dorothy was exposed to booze, weeds and cigarettes provided by Alice ages 12-14. For the next four years the world stagnates rapidly.

Early life bleakness expands to much more bleakness. Tornado's rip the farms. A horrible dust bowls hits and kills whole family's choked out from the dustbowl. Dorthy loses her uncle and aunt who where raising her that way whiles she out of a date in the city.

The rich elite take more and more of the people's wealth.Leaving the poor without any meat. But they hire right wing talk show hosts to blame it all on the liberals. Getting crazy rich while whole family's starve. But the right wing talk radio hosts and preachers tell the under class that the rich are to be adored and respected and the activists trying to save them are the real foes causing all they're problems.

A already failing world goes down hill even faster when the book The King in Yellow spreads across the world bringing fever and madness. The Yellow plague. A fever madness delirium,disease starts killing whole towns. Spreading with the madness. Either this plague is caused by the government's mandatory injections or it was caused by people's refusals to get it no one knows.

Prince Prospero holes up with the rich elite in his vast very well stocked fortress. There the party never stops. As far as any one knows its the end of the world after all.

Dorothy takes off to meet up with Alice so they can try to get into Prospero's fortress and survive the plague that's killing everyone else off and driving them mad.
