So the Great Alarm cuts out the nutrients that feed hero's brain in the jar where it's preserved. Doing this kills dude who was living in 731 incarnations through out the world. Not enough living brains left to populate the reality template with enough citizens. You often hear someone say they saw your could be twin somewhere in town, thats another you. I've met another me, he was named Bill.
The human race is body form has died out completely, a couple hundred or more years ago. This happened in 2012 when time ended. Either a outside non human intelligence or people of the time converted all living people with just brains fed in nutrient dispensing jars. I can still remember the smell of the liquids in the jar. These brains are fed random lives based on timeline templates. The timeline runs from 1900-2012 and loops back again. Towards 2012 each cycle the reality program gets glitchy. Simple household objects may change into other simple household objects while your not looking. Odd text replacing street signs. Reality skipping where someone starts spasmodically shacking like a skipping C D. During this glitches the vary reality of the world smells burned.
Our hero has a pre-life memory that was not wiped with his other memories when his template self died and was wiped and set up in a new random life.
Towards the end the main character manipulates the system to go back in earlier life periods to get revenge of those who wronged him, for kicks.
Through out his life protag gets clues that things are not what they seem. mainly as a child when certain songs bring back the feel and place of having experienced the same song in a different life. How everything seems familiar, part of a chain.
story explains:
Brennende: The first Infictive novel, is it?
Dick: could be
with the Kansas drought I probably shall be slow at it. and a full length novel will be a epic effort even for me
but i think I'll add bits kinda w s bouroughs naked lunch styel
lots of impressions and scenes jumbled giving details hoping to flesh it out later
mainly details of dudes life going all over this lifespan frame giving personal details and connections with brain in a jar thing
Brennende: I sometimes think I'd write a novel, but I don't know why I would.
Dick: i love the idea of dude getting into the system and manipuating it going back in time to fuck up people who picked on him
Brennende: Revenge stories appeal to many.
Dick: lots of fun you have a known wrong and a unreal visual life around you so why not play by setting foe on fire or shooting
good mean clean fun
he may get real evel feeling that eveything is meaningless
maybe he will shut the machine down and let the brains slowly die
Brennende: Uncertainty to the end. Alternative streams of narrative.
Even uncertainty in the end.
Dick: i'll claim its not finished and I released it against my wil
it will have to have a lot of other stuff will be book length beside merely pondering the great alarm
i could call the philosopsy behind the book serial buddhism
Brennende: Buddhist extremism?
Dick: buddabending
a eletronic reincarnation
a buddhist like desire to break out of life death rebrith cycle
float free of it in clouds of pleasure
the machine does the heaven trick, it really programs a paradise but no one ever goes there its a empty reward forever waiting the souls that just go back for another life script
Brennende: Empty heaven, alone. No one wants themselves for eternity.
Dick: a real hell too, also empty
every few decades a brain dies and the 300 or so copies of lives disapear
vanish in thin air. Theres not that many brains to really populate the world so everyone has twins lots of them spread all over, the twins normally are totally different but sometimes very similair
