Microbes that, upon invading the biosystem of another organism, settle into equilibrium with the host and provide a useful or necessary service to the host. The host, in return, allows the microbes to reproduce without exceeding the carrying capacity of the biosystem and partake of the resources (food, oxygen, et al) available.
