Historians can't seem to agree on when this term, an abbreviation for 'Socially Avoidant Psychonaut', came into common usage, but most agree that they could begin to see the roots of the Sappie Movement even in the early 2000s.
Sappies avoid social contact with those outside their immediate social circles and those who are obviously not "their kind." They huddle in the dark together, discussing philosophy, smoking flower and grinding their sharp little teeth.
