Today is Monday, October 29, 2012, nearing the end of the slouch t'ward Hallowe'en night, that time of reflection and haunting and all things macabre. But first, these apparitions of the week that was...

  • Sad news this week as we mourn the the death of Motley Howe, killed during an apparent home invasion. According to the Libreville Reporter, "the leader of the band Black Circle was found brutally beaten in his living room on Thursday evening. After being discovered in a non-responsive condition by fellow bandmates, Howe was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Authorities declared him dead some hours later." This tragic news takes a strange turn as we've now learned that the body has gone missing, apparently having been smuggled from the hospital in the early hours of Friday morning during its transfer to the morgue. The police are asking the community to come forward with any leads or information about the murder and disappearance of the body. There have been no public statements from the band, and there are presently no funeral arrangements announced, but many fans are organizing Hallowe'en vigils in Howe's honor across the country.

  • Party-goers attending festivities during the week-long Libreville Masked Hallowe'en Festival were greeted by an unexpected sight on Sunday afternoon: a massive gray balloon whale, flying a streaming banner behind it with the cryptic message "FREEDOM TO THE CETECEAN SLAVE WORLDS". The balloon circled over the downtown area for nearly an hour before rapidly ascending and disappearing from view. It was later found to have crashed near the Fnordham campus. Thus far no one has claimed responsibility for the aerial vehicular protest.

  • Ha, ha, wow, this squirrel sure is fat!

And so went the week In Infictive, with a Happy Hallowe'en from us to you, and to all a spooky night.
