Mr. Puff-Pudgy, who was forced to flee his home after being accused of Satanism and other unsavoury practice, was brought into the company of a fellow outcast, Mr. Woodchuck, becoming one of the founding partners of Rodent Industries®. He began claiming to be a doctor shortly thereafter, loudly asserting that, indeed, he was the original inventor of just about everything under the sun (unless it could be proven he was not, in which case he would say it was either simple, useless, both simple and useless, or that he, as a perfector, improved on it in vague ways that "you wouldn't understand"). By the time of Dr. P's retirement, the official line of Rodent Industries held that the organization was many millions of years old, responsible for "an organized push [...] of the mammalian evolution", possessing "antient, secret knowledge that no one, and certainly not that duplicitous amateur Presto Digi or his friends, could even understand, much less put to use".
