The D O S T M was a small office room within the vast Underground bunker of the Sacred Order of the Stoned Masons. It was mis-placed one hazy afternoon back in '96, and it has never since been found. Later, in 2006, the new Department of Short Term Memory was created, the original DOSTM having been declared lost, and eventually the new DOSTM began publication of authors that the Department of Public Memory attempted to assassinate. By 2008, the DOSTM began turning a profit, because dead authors seldom complain when royalty checks don't show up.
