2012-01-11 - Hollerin' Jack Johnson mourned

Hollerin' Jack Johnson was remembered and mourned at a funeral on Wednesday in Ketjack, Oregon, a small town south of Libreville. He was 46 years old.

A brief ceremony for friends and local kin was held at noon, according to a spokesperson for the music legend, who died Tuesday morning following a bout of ill-health (see "Hollerin' Jack found in alley, resuscitated"). He had only recently completed recordings for a new album, as yet untitled.

A public memorial has yet to be announced.

"He was truly a great old fella, and I know he'll be living on forever more," read a statement issued by Hank Grimson, Johnson's long-time collaborator. "We'll be breaking these garlic and rosemary biscuits in memory of you, Jackie."

Exclusive: "Drunk on a Work Night", from Johnson's last session. He was said to be drunker then two hells at the time.
