'Lost and tripping' on the set of Magafungo?
'Lost and tripping' on the set of Magafungo?

Today is Monday, August 20, 2012, and can it be that we've nearly made it through those dog days of summer? What harvest will come of our efforts under the sun? With autumn fast approaching, we at Inficon are planning a few new additions to our weekly schedule, but we'll get to that when we get to that. And now, briefly, the week that was...

  • Keeping a strong pace as we enter into the final four months of the year, Mystery X's Race to 100 sees the total pileup increasing from 92 to 94 with the latest releases: "Towns on the Edge of the Map" and "Thornland".

  • In other music news, if you were among the few sponsors of the Wishing Book's Indiekick campaign, you'll be disappointed to see that they did not meet their needed contribution threshold, denying them the opportunity to record a full studio album, which has left them with the unpleasant option of reducing their goal to the release of an EP of a few singles. Their MusicTube page has been quiet since the deadline rolled, but we are told from inside sources that they will be making an announcement soon about their plans going forward.

  • Kids across the county have been hopped up on the latest wonder soda, "BubblePop", and it has parent groups crying foul. The sex soda has been promoted as an erotic pleasure booster and aphrodisiac, a liquid herbal Viagra-lite, and is sold without any limitations. In a statement, the local chapter of the Concerned Parents Council of America has said the largest market is 13-18 year olds, and urged the FDA and other government regulatory bodies to act to prevent the sale of the soda to minors, condemning the manufacturers as "exploitative" and "degenerate corruptors of youth". The makers of BubblePop responded that their product contains nothing that other similar products, including energy drinks and more traditional sodas, would not also contain, and that their products have met all guidelines laid out by regulatory authorities. At least now young boys will have something new to blame when they pop a boner in class, huh?

  • Testimony in the 28% Concert Riot class action suit against the Quick Nods has been concluded after two weeks at trial, with closing statements expected to be made this week. Anticipating a positive outcome for the band, production on the ESM film "Magafungo" is tentatively slated to reopen in September, with filming to be concluded no later than Halloween. We hope to get band, producer, and director interviews on set in Ketjack next month, so leave any questions you want answered in the comments!

And that was the week In Infictive. We invite all our readers to join us at the Colombiana Hotel on the night of Friday, August 31, to honor and send off retiring Fnordham professor and unofficial director of the Infictive studies group, Macsen Wallace.
