in the safe house, all enmities are in abeyance, all entities protected from violence. it is a space where adversaries can meet, discuss, compromise. it is a space where friends can embrace one another without fear of treachery or reprisal. when one enters a safe house, one agrees to abide by these rules. the denizens which have no form insure the rules are obeyed, both in letter and in spirit.
