The Oregon High Desert (Great Sandy Desert, the Rolling Sage Plain, the Artemisia Desert, Oregon's Empty Quarter, the Great Wide Open, and Oregon’s Cowboy Country) is a region of the U.S. state of Oregon covering most of six Oregon counties (Crook, Deschutes, Harney, Infictive, Lake, and Malheur) in the central and eastern areas of the state. The southern region is part of the Great Basin, while the somewhat less arid northern region is part of the Columbia Plateau.
