Red bhang is the street name for a highly addictive drug produced from synthesised red algae. Most often distributed in resin form, it can then be consumed raw, prepared as a beverage, or smoked. It has a chewy texture and peppery taste.

As a narcotic agent, it stimulates a feeling comparable to the Hindu conception of "sukha", but as a bliss that arises from a feeling of terror and darkness— a "black sukha".

Repeated use is known to leave open backdoors into a user's mind for those who distribute the substance to access.
