Totally still. Eyes closed so that the hay does not blind you permanently. Breathing calmly through your nostrils you wait in the hay. Peaceful and content. The mayor will never look for you here. Never.

You start to get thirsty a few hours into your perfect stillness. You had better wait until you're really, really thirsty to go looking for water, though. Every time you step out of the safety of the hay, you are subject to identification and apprehension by the mayor or his many employees.

  2. You wait until you think it must be dark in the barn to emerge
