A couple callers reference the catch-phrase with giggles, but they are all legit, kind people. A few more shows, still no awful caller. Before long no one remembers "How's that wife of yours?" or what all the fuss was about.

Calls stop coming in entirely after a week. Ratings are down. No one recognises you at the supermarket any more.

After a month, you are fired, your slot filled by an upbeat pop radio show featuring clever political jokes.
